Biblical reasons that the rapture may occur around September 9th, 2010

Before I begin, I want to mention something ...
NOBODY knows the day or the hour of the Lord's return. Amen?

I discovered something this year about that phrase: "nobody knows the day or the hour." It is a colloquial phrase in the Hebrew community that has a literal meaning and another wrinkle that has to do with the Feast of Trumpets. Let me explain.

The Feast of Trumpets is the only Hebrew celebration that happens at a new moon. And the new moon can fall on different days all over the world. It can also happen on two different days in the same place in the world. A new moon is 29.5 days after the last one, meaning it might occur on the 29th or 30th day, nobody knows for sure. Which is to say that the calender may read September the 14th for the new moon in Israel, but it may not occur in the United States until the 15th or maybe it would have occurred here a day before it does in Israel. Or that in Israel alone there is always a controversy that must be resolved to determine when the celebration actually occurs.

The way the nation of Israel would determine when the feast occurred is they would deputize two men with good eyesight to stand away from the city and stare at the moon to see if they could agree that a crescent was visible. They two men would return to the priest in Jerusalem and either agree that the feast was to begin or they would wait for the next day to verify. Because the date of the feast was up for grabs, the feast became known as that which "nobody knows the day or the hour." That very phrase became synonymous with "the Feast of Trumpets" such that they could be used interchangeably.

It is interesting that this Letter came on the Feast of Trumpets, 2007. It spoke so clearly that "Today, let it be counted. For today begins that which the Lord God of Heaven and earth had declared from the beginning, that it should come" ... particularly interesting when it occurred on the very day that nobody knew the day or the hour.

We can all agree that nobody knows the day or the hour of the Lord's coming ... and at the same time be confident of this ... it is most likely to occur during the Feast that signifies this event ... just like the death of the Lord Jesus occurred during the feast of Passover.

In short, there is valid reasons to believe that the rapture will occur whenever the day or the hour happens to be during the new moon of the seventh Hebrew month in 2010 ... or in other words - "The Feast of Trumpets 2010." That is sometime between September 7th and September 10th, 2010.

That will be approximately 62.5 years after the establishment of Israel as a nation ... and still leave at least 7 more years before the time-frame expires ... the time frame being the length of years in the generation that sees the establishment of the nation in Jerusalem.

The days of our years are threescore years and ten;
- Psalm 90

"Threescore" is 60. So 60 and 10 is 70.

I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. - Matt 24

Do some google searches on the Feast of Trumpets and you can quickly verify what I have written.

Hi Trent,

This is an interesting post and I think it is really good for us gentiles to take the time to look at what is written in the Bible from the Jewish perspective as it adds great depth to what we learn there. This post also confirms to me how multi-layered the teaching of the Rapture is. Often, it is portrayed as an escape hatch from the tribulation for believers and it may well occur before the tribulation period but it could occur any time because it is for God's purpose, not our own, and He is the only One who knows that appointed time. Even Jesus said that only the Father knows. Still it is a good thing to live daily with the hope of the gathering of the saints in the clouds on a daily basis. It keeps us mindful of how we are living and of our purpose in remaining here. It reminds us of what a marvelous experience it is to be a part of Christ's church and of course, it is a good thing to look forward to when daily life becomes too heavy with evil to bear but it is not an escape hatch. God could just as easily leave us here through the tribulation and protect us because God can do anything. We should not spend our time here looking for a way to escape but instead, we should live boldly in Christ by being active in this very dark world. As long as we are living for Jesus and doing the work we are called to do, God will protect us and get us through whatever He has assigned us to walk through.

I used to be staunch pre-trib and you would often hear me sighing, with heavy shoulders, "I wish the Lord would come!" but then God took me through some truly evil days and taught me that I don't need to escape because I am safely tucked beneath His wing. I still dream of and long for the Rapture but to a different tune. I no longer view it as an escape hatch from the world but as a marvelous event that begins to reveal the true purpose of the church and a greater revelation of Jesus Christ to all men and women. When Jesus is fully revealed, there will be no more room for evil and the fruits of evil. We the church, will be fully redeemed when we rise in glorified bodies to meet our Savior in the air as we are the firstfruits of redemption in Christ. There will be no brighter day than the rapture for those of us whose lives are hid in Christ!

Pam that was very well written and it mirrors my own life to a large extent. I suppose the escapism thing isn't completely gone ... but maybe it never is completely gone.

We know Jesus is coming, and it is nice to prepare ... and to prepare together. Reading Paul's letters, I get the since that Paul enjoyed this preparation as well, even though it wasn't during his lifetime.

Hey Little Brother,

The greatest thing for me to contemplate is that it really doesn't matter if I don't know when because I can't mess up and not be there on the right day or be late or too early. Jesus is going to make sure we're there when the appointed time comes. No worries, hey mate?

Every once in a while the brain fog clears and I can still string a few coherent words together. Pray for me. I've got a lot on my plate right now and I'm going to go lay down and forget about that plate that needs so much prayer and rest and think about the Rapture. I have experienced a lot of emotional highs and lows in life but I don't really think I have experienced, rapture. It's going to be something else!

Pam,

I'll be praying for you ... and its sleepy time for me, so I think I'll just drift off while pondering the rapture as well.

Hey Mr. Mister,

I've read your blog and I don't ask Him to come back. Hey, I have relatives who still are in the dark and there are people who still believe lies told by the enemy. They think it's okay to be gay (it's a lie, it's twisted), it's okay to live together and not marry (ignorance), they think it's okay to have an abortion (selfishness and a lie), they think there is no other way than to divorce(another lie). I've found out that there is a fight going on. And the Lord is teaching me to pray for people who are caught in the fight. And I mean by fight that the enemy is trying to pull them towards him and tell them all these lies and twist the truth and keep them ignorant. And that little creature of a satan knows I pray and reject his works. The last year the Lord has prepared me in prayer. And I know now He taught me to break dividing walls in His name, to cut ties of death and bless people with ties of live, to reject the works of that little creature, to send him away in Jesus name. The thing is I knew my gift was prayer but never thought he would teach me this and show me many things.
One day I saw a car with a sticker on it saying "I love satan" in stead of "I love Jesus". I was shoked and I prayed right away. Didn't know what to pray actually. I asked the Lord what was going on in my small village? He made me look up to the sky and I saw a part of the sky was dark and the other part was clear. The Lord made clear to me that there was a fight going on above the village. After that I heard someone came to our village claiming that our village has no Saviour. How can you say that? I rejected that claim in Jesus name and proclaimed that Jesus is Lord and King of this village. I know He is going to do great things. I know there is fight going on every where. But this is what the Lord showed me here and I know my job is to pray for this village. I don't want Him to come back soon because of all these people. But then, if He did I wouldn't mind of course. To think I would run to Him and embrace Him. Would that be possible to embrace Him? So many people would want to do that. And we would all dance and laugh. Oh what a joy.

Yep, it's a long story again. Remember me, princess of blogs? Haha.

I see what you mean. But we trust Him absolutely, knowing that whatever He does is perfect and right. His return will be at the perfect moment and we will all be in awe of the mighty work and perfect timing.

Then all will see and know that He is the Lord .. .and left there in bitter anguish, a great multitude will come and kiss the Lord in bless His name in humility ... having seen there error as prophecy unfolds before their eyes.

The first harvest will be sudden and immediate ... taking all the lowly of the lowly.

The second harvest will be gleaned during 7 years of the plentiful and the humble, who will shed beautiful tears of love in that day.

Ripening for the harvest,

The 9th of September would be the 11th hour of the Jubilee and that is a good quess, but the 10 of Nisan (March 25) and the 6 of Sivan (May 19) comes first.
Be sure to have extra oil for your lamp.

John,
Thanks for sharing your guesses. It is best that we be ready at all times. Surely this generation will not pass away until we see His return.

Hi,
Had a question as to how John came up with the dates March 25, 2010 and May 19, 2010?

Also, I believe the Lord gave me a dream where HE gave me the exact date of the rapture. I know this sounds far fetched, I am not a date setter and never believed in that, but I do believe that the Lord reveals to his bride. I have been watching and waiting for this Blessed Hope for 20 years or more. I never remember my dreams, but was awakened immediately after this rapture dream and it was impressed upon me to remember the date given. I won't give it out here, but let's just say, pack your bags and wait for the arrival -- "LOOK UP YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWS NIGH."

It is sooner than you think!
Thanks!

another reason...the time of judgment for noahs flood started on the 17th day and ended 5 months later on the 17th day so 2017 could be the year to end Gods tribulation judgement? the interesting number 14 could be the halway point of trib so maybe the rapture will occur in april or may but not later than june of this year!

I have a question for you Trent. If God made it clear that NOBODY knows the day or the hour of the Lord's return. Why try to guess at a date?

If you believe in Pre-wrath Rapture then it is not un-Godly to quess the start of the 70th week of Daniel. The Day of the Lord would be in the last 3.5 years and no one knows when.
I believe that the start of the 70th week will be with the Feast of Trumpets referenced from the temple in Jerusalem. It is also the 10th Jubilee. However, years ago I did an exhaustive study looking at astrometical/Biblical data. My conclusion was that there are just too many changes, variables to determine with accuracy the Jubilee year system anymore.
Also, go back and read carefully and it is not just the Nation of Isreal being re-established but also the City of Jerusalem being retaken in 1967. Also, a generation may be considered 40 years as well as 70 years.
So the thing to do is what I did, be ready and focus on Christ. Prepare at all times and share the Word. If you haven't done that then hurry up.

The Mystery of the Magi

We usually don’t think about it, but our Lord’s name was not always Jesus. It was in fact originally the popular Aramaic name *Yeshu’a.
In first century Judea and Galilee, the name Yeshu’a was very common and shared fifth place with Eleazar (Lazarus) in popularity as a name for Jewish men. The most popular male names at that time were Shime’on (Simon), Yosef (Joseph), Yehuda (Judah or Judas) and Yochanan (John).
In the Holy Land at the time of Christ, Aramaic had replaced Hebrew in everyday conversation, but Hebrew remained the holy language and was used in worship and daily prayers. The rabbis also used Hebrew when instructing their disciples. The two languages were closely related, however, as close as Italian is to Spanish, and both used the same alphabet.
Yeshu’a was the Aramaic version of the Hebrew name Yehoshu’a (Joshua), and means “Yahweh saves”.
Throughout Christ’s lifetime in Galilee, Samaria and Judea of course the name Yeshu’a presented no problem for those who spoke Aramaic and read the Bible and prayed in Hebrew. But outside the Holy Land it become a different story as Good News spread.
The Gentiles of the Roman Empire spoke Greek and Latin and simply could not pronounce Yeshu’a. It contained sounds that did not exist in their language. When the Gospels were written in Greek, therefore, the Evangelists had a real problem regarding how they might render our Lord’s name into acceptable Greek.
The initially ‘Y’ (Hebrew and Aramaic letter ‘yod’) was easy. The Evangelists could use the Greek letter ‘iota’, written ‘I,’ since it was pronounced like the ‘y’ in yet.
The next sound was a vowel, and that was a little more difficult. Unlike Greek, all the letters of the Aramaic-Hebrew alphabet are consonants. The marks for the vowels were not invented until some centuries after Christ and were simple dots and dashes, placed above or beneath the letters. At the time of Christ apparently, the first vowel in our Lord’s name was pronounced like the ‘a’ in gate. And the Evangelists believed they could approximate that sound by using the Greek letter ‘eta’. (The capital Greek letter looks just like our English letter H).
Then followed the first of two almost insurmountable problems with Hebrew and Aramaic pronunciation. There was no letter for the ‘sh’ sound in the Greek alphabet. Such a familiar name as Solomon was actually Sh’lomo in Hebrew, Samson was Shimson and Samuel was Sh’mu-El. Like the Greek translators of these Old Testament Hebrew names, the Evangelists used the Greek sigma (s) for the Hebrew shin (sh) when rendering Christ’s name.
The first three Greek letters ‘iota’, ‘eta’, and ‘sigma’, moreover came to be used in early Byzantine religious art as an abbreviation of Jesus name. As they look very much like the Latin letters IHS, the letters were adapted in Western European religious paintings and church architecture as a symbol for Christ’s name.
The next letter in the Aramaic name Yeshu’a was the Hebrew letter ‘waw’, which here represents the sound ‘oo’, as in too. It was easy for the Evangelists to duplicate this sound in Greek. It takes two letters, however, the omicron (o) and upsilon (u).
But that easy substitution was followed by the biggest problem of all: the final ‘a’ sound. In Greek, there was no substitute for the Hebrew letter ‘aiyin’. Though the ‘aiyin’ has no sound of its own, it causes the vowel that it controls to be pronounced deep in the throat. The Greek couldn’t do that, and neither could the Romans when speaking in Latin. Usually, a Greek or Roman would pronounce an ‘aiyin’-controlled ‘a’ like the ‘a’ in father.
A final ‘a’ on a name however was most commonly feminine in both Greek and Latin. Thus it was decided to drop the Hebrew ‘aiyin’ completely and replace it with the final Greek sigma (s) which most often indicates the masculine gender in nouns.
Throughout the Roman Empire then our Lord’s Aramaic name Yeshu’a, had become the Greek name Iesous, pronounced yeh-SOOS. And this remained Christ’s name throughout the Roman Empire as long as Greek remained the dominant language.
But after some centuries Greek lost its favored position and Latin took its place. In the last quarter of the fourth century, the Bible was translated from Greek into Latin by *St. Jerome who had no trouble rendering the Greek Iesous into Latin, it became Iesus. The accent, however, was moved to the first syllable and the name pronounced YAY-soos, since the Romans liked to accent the second from the last syllable.
In about 14th century, in the scriptoria of the monasteries where Bibles were copied by hand, Monks began to elongate the initial ‘I’ of the words into a ‘J’. (The pronounciation remained the same-like the ‘y’ in yet but the Monks thought a ‘J’ looked better). Probably the first Monks to do this were Germans because the letter ‘j’ in that language sounds the same as the ‘y’ in English. The name Iesus, consequently, evolved into the familiar written form of Jesus by the 17th century. Everyone still pronounced it YAY-soos, however, as it was in the official liturgical Latin.
Way back in the fifth and sixth centuries, some pagan Germanic tribes called the Angles and Saxons invaded England. St Augustine of Canterbury came to convert them to Christianity in A.D.396. Of course St. Augustine established Jerome’s Latin translation as England’s official Bible. The Anglo-Saxon learned that our Lord’s official Latin name was Iesus. Naturally the Germanic Anglo-Saxon converted the initial Latin ‘I’ into the German ‘J’. They pronounced the name, however, as YAY-zoos, since a single ‘s’ between two vowels is sounded like our ‘z’ in Germanic languages.
When the Normans invaded England in A.D.1066 they brought with them the French language. Since neither the Anglo-Saxons nor the Normans would surrender their language to the other, the two become wedded and eventually evolved into Modern English. The Normans did influence the pronunciation of the first letter of Our Lord’s name, though, they brought the French pronunciation of j (jh), which evolved into our English sound of j.
When King James commissioned the first official translation of the Bibles into English in the early 17th century, the Latin Jesus was carried over unchanged into the new English Bible. The average English citizen of the day probably pronounced the name JAY-zus which ultimately evolved into our modern English JEE-zus.
The long process was now complete. A name that began as the Aramaic Yeshu’a would remain written in English as it was in Medieval Latin, but now would be pronounced in English speaking countries as the familiar and loving name of the One who is our Savior, JESUS.

* Yeshu’a pronounced Yah-shua in Aramaic from Hebrew name Yahshu’a

* St. Jerome name is Eusebius Hieronymus A.D.347 – A.D.419
