The infinite ocean of Christ's love!
The above link is a devotional of sorts that is worth meditating about.
Sometimes we don't need to know any more about God's love. Rather we need His Spirit to fall upon us, like the father falls upon the neck of the prodigal son.
May you get hugged by Dad today.

Some people say that there is a pre-trib rapture ... and they are correct in a sense.
Some people say that the rapture is after tribulation ... and they are right in a sense, too.
Others say that the rapture happens at some point mid-way during the tribulation ... and they are correct to some degree.
In truth, we are already in the "Day of the Lord" and have been so for over one year. There are ten years in the "Day" ... seven of which are called the "Great Tribulation." Revelation chapter 2 verse 10 makes it clear that there is ten days of tribulation. We endure 2 more years of tribulation as the birth pains increase and then (after the first harvest) the Day turns terrible, so that all things can be fulfilled.
Here is the sequence as I understand it.
* The Day of the Lord begins (10 years long of tribulation)
* Birth pains intensify (CURRENT PHASE)
* Rapture occurs - the first harvest
* Great Tribulation begins (the second harvest is gleaned throughout the seven years)
* Worldwide panic from rapture / the antichrist seizes worldwide control
* Israel gets a peace agreement that lasts 3.5 years then broken even though it was promised to last 7 years
* Armageddon
* Judgment
* World is cleaned up (rebuilt) by the Lord
* The Day of the Lord ends and the Millennial Reign begins (1000 years)
* After 1000 years ... the mystery of the Eternal state is revealed as New Jerusalem

Thus Says The LORD: Behold, I am against you, oh nation of harlots! I had made you strong and gave you blessings beyond compare. Yet you turn your face from Me, even the One who bought you in His own blood...beaten, scourged and mocked, even pierced for your transgressions! Yet you turn your back on Him and use His name, even the very name I, Myself, have given Him, as a cursing! Desecration! Blasphemy! You, oh nation not desired, you are given into the hands of your enemies, and they shall kill you and burn you with fire and tear down all your tall towers. And you shall raise your hand, in great anger and haste, and repay them double! Says the Lord of Hosts. For as you are given up, so shall they be given to you for retribution. Even DOUBLE shall you afflict them, even double shall they receive at your hand. A strong wind and dark storm, a great whirlwind shall you be in your vengeance...yet the end is not yet. For you have those among you, who I know and see of Myself in them, I must take them...I shall surely deliver them. Then you shall fall, oh mighty nation, and great shall be your falling, for then shall rise one whom you shall fear. And all, who feared you, shall fear him; and those, who served you, you shall serve. And you will not be satisfied, and you will grumble and not sit still, but in false hope you shall rise up and meet your end...plucked up and put underfoot by him, who is called wickedness and lying...

OK, I KNOW this is controversial. I know it is inflammatory. I know it is provocative. But I'm going to say it anyway as a warning to my friends and family: We are way overdue for the next terrorist attack, and there is no better time to expect it than the next 8 weeks or so. HERE is why... (in no particular order)
1) Terrorists may be chomping at the bit.
The other day my thoughts drifted to how Bush is leaving office and entering retirement. It isn't much of a secret that he has lots of enemies. It also isn't much of a secret that he is slipping into the background during his lame-duck phase of this term. If you were an idiotic sub-human varmint that thought 911 was cool, wouldn't this be a great chance for you do something as despicable when Bush has his guard down? Not only is it a great chance ... it is your last chance. Admit it, it makes sense given that some people are so evil in this world to look for such an opportunity.
2) We are overdue.
Am I the only one that thinks we have been very blessed to go 7+ years without any domestic attacks? Surly, I am not.
3) Corroboration with friends.
Yesterday, I started to tell a friend named James what I was thinking along these lines, and he interrupted me to tell me that he was about to tell me the same thing. I called Tim to tell him what James and I discussed and before I could say anything, Tim said he senses it too. Yeah, it is circumstantial ... but these guys meditate and pray as much as I do (if not more,) so I give this some weight.
4) What Jesus said.
For about a year, a friend of mine (Tim) has been storing food and supplies, because that is what the Lord told him to do (yes, audibly.) Just the other day, Tim was startled in the middle of diner with an unusually loud Word from the Lord: "Timothy, you must increase your stockpile of food by one-fifth before this winter." (paraphrase.)
5) Mid-East powder-keg looking for spark.
Please tell me you have noticed the saber-rattling going on since early October in the Mid-East news. Syria, Iran and Israel are picking fights. The United States have violated Pakistan and Syria boarders ... repeatedly. These hot-heads don't need much to set them off ... and in the last month and a half, they have had PLENTY of sparks that could start the world on fire ... again.
6) Prophetic utterances needing near-term fulfillment.
For reasons already discussed, this prophetic word (http://gracehead.com/myrandomfiles/html.htm) needs near-term fulfillment. Apparently, the "kill," "burn," and "tear down" as well as the "vengeance" part must all come within the next 20-30 months or so. And the double vengeance part, doesn't sound like the next executive administration to me.
7) As a nation, the USA is really off track, and needing discipline.
Two major things are under attack: sanctity of the living unborn and marriage. This nation has forsaken God's guidance in these things for the most part, and ... if He loves this nation; He will surly discipline.
TO BE CLEAR: I certainly do not cheer for this to happen. It is grievous and sorrowful to think about. I hope we are never attacked again. But even as an optimistic fellow, that isn't realistic at all. The government has warned us time and time again that we will be attacked again someday. I'm just saying that they might be proven correct very soon. This winter makes sense to me.
Feel free to say that I'm a dork if I am wrong about this. That is fine, and I would deserve it. But if I am right, give some consideration to the thoughts above and the links referenced. Time will tell ... so give it a 90 days of skepticism and then laugh this off if I was wrong.
I am a defeated Christian. I've given up. I know only a few Christians weaker then me. I proved it; I can't do it.
I've failed at my own definitions of what a Christian should be. My resources to be Christian have been spent and used up, and there isn't much to show for it. I didn't go on any mission trip or crusade, I burned out on simple things ... things that look easy to other church-goers, but for me they were too much. I couldn't handle it, and when it was all over and I was wasted away ... I wondered if there was something simply wrong with me. I guess others that are stronger, will make it, but I will need to be excluded, because I couldn't take the heat of being Christian.
At that, I wept bitterly.
Why not me? Why so weak? What kind of mess is this Christianity that would exclude the sincere simply because their best still ins't enough?
I screamed it in my heart ...
What
is
it
?!?!
I expected silence. Instead I heard a Voice!
I heard THE Voice.
The Lord spoke to me, a religious drop-out and defeated pile of pity. I am not going to try to explain what it was like to hear ... it is beyond words. I'm going to try to put to words what was said.
He said this:
"Trent, I love you."
Can you believe that? It still echos in my ear, and I can hear the echo, though it is beyond my comprehension. God loves utter failures, and defeated drop-outs. God has room in His heart for people like me, weak people ... people who "can't" and they know it. God loves EVEN me. Provided that you can believe that, then you should know by now that you are safe in that love. Any God that can love me, can love you.
God loves you ... right where you are.
He cannot love you more.
He will not love you any less.
I wanted a God that would love me when I went to church. But what I found is a God that loves me even when I can't stand religion. I would rather have the God that I found in defeat then the God I was looking for through sucess. You see, I am weak ... so I need a God that can love the unlovely. I can't manage to stay lovely long enough anyway.
I don't care how many at church make religion look so easy, I can't seem to manage the least bit. So, now my boast is in my weakness and in the Gospel of Grace.

Jerks 3:17-18 :: {Abominized Version}
17But the foolishness from creation is first of all impure (defiled); then it is war-loving, discourteous (inconsiderate, rough). It is willing to resist reason, full of gruffness and bad fruits; it is halfbaked and misleading, prejudiced and unstable(full of doubts, wavering, and insincerity).
18 And the waste of unrighteousness is the fruit of the seed sown in contempt by those who can't ever seem to make peace [in themselves and with others].

17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Thus Says the Lord Against the United States!
Hear the WORD of the LORD spoken to THIS generation, through His modern-day prophet at: http://www.TrumpetCallofGodOnline.comBiblical reference:
James 5:1-8
1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. 4 Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. 5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you. 7 Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. 8 You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.

Read, Ponder, Pray, Listen...
Grace and the Law; or is it Grace and Lawlessness?... which is Grace versus the Law.
Does the Lord stand divided against Himself?... Or do you?
You must decide, because it means the difference between Evacuation and Refinement in the Day of the Lord.
[Read (click to read): 1 Corinthians 3:10-*15.]
*1 Corinthians 3:15:
...if it is burned up, he will have to bear the loss: he will still escape with his life, but it will be like escaping through a fire.
We must ask ourselves: What are the first-works in faith after receiving Grace and forgiveness of sins? And what is the first-fruits bore by these works?
Answer:
To Love God with all our hearts, and all our minds, and all our strength(Commandments 1-4), and to love our neighbor as ourself(Commandments 5-10).
Therefore the Moral Law is love and will Never pass away, rather it must be written in our hearts... and will be.
Romans 7:12:
Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. ~ Paul.
Romans 3:31:
Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. ~ Paul.
Jeremiah 31:33:
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. ~ God.
Therefore:
Matthew 5:19
Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. ~ Jesus.
Just who says keep the commandments?:
Matthew 19:17:
So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." ~ Jesus.
1John 2:4:
He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ~ John.
1John 5:2:
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
~ John.
1John 5:3:
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. ~ John.
Revelation 12:17:
And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, *who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. ~ Jesus.
Revelation 14:12:
Here is the patience of the saints; here are *those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. ~ Jesus.
[*Grace And the Law.]
Do we even need John's testimony? Yes, even his words come from Jesus... And Jesus' testimony is the greatest of all... follow and obey Him, knowing you are already in Grace, seek not to betray that gift in love by returning to that which you have been delivered from. For your love is made perfect in obedience... Trust and obey.
Thus says the Lord:
[Jesus] So now hear and understand: Salvation can, in no wise, depart from you... once received. Therefore, seek to please the Father and keep the Law. For how can one who walks in Me, by grace, also walk in that which had condemned them? Shall My people reach toward Heaven with one hand, but continue to tread the path which leads to destruction? Shall one who loves Me take My hand, and walk beside Me, with only one foot on the good ground and the other in the grave? Therefore, knowledge must increase, and sin decrease, to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. One, who is under grace, bears fruit of the same; and the One, who kept the Law of the Father, revealed that grace by works.
Remember My words, to those who were self-righteous within themselves, and sought to stone Me for My words. Did I not say to them,
"Do not believe Me then, but you should at least believe My deeds"?
Beloved sons, I am in the Father, and He is in Me, and We in you. And if I am in you, seek to please the Father, even as I did, and He will be pleased with you, because you seek to follow Me in truth, bearing your cross also, not fearing its weight but embracing it, whereby you become an example, walking into the Kingdom after Me, leading many others also.
So then, grace is first and everlasting.
Then comes works, the first works in faith, even the first fruits bore in your lives...
which is to love the Father, and one another, by keeping the Law.
James 2:18:
But someone will say, "You have faith, and I have works." Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works..
James 2:20:
But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:26:
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Matthew 7:21-23:
Not everyone who says to me, `Lord, Lord!' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, only those who do what my Father in heaven wants. On that Day, many will say to me, `Lord, Lord! Didn't we prophesy in your name? Didn't we expel demons in your name? Didn't we perform many miracles in your name?' Then I will tell them to their faces, `I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness!'
Deuteronomy 7:9:
Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
NICK writes this:
Here is a part of my story...
I belong to the United Reformed denomination. Its a small group of only a couple hundred churches...but it is pretty good. The pastors teach the word in truth and they reject the false philosophies and doctrines of man that are running rampant throughout the churches of the world right now.
But...when it comes to Bible prophecy...there is almost NO preaching about it. Yes...they believe that Christ will come again...but many people don't know about the end times and the various world-shattering events that will unfold.
They say it is unhealthy to my life to be so concerned with the things that are going on in the world. They say that if I live my life thinking each day about the END...then i will not be happy...and I won't strive to get a good career or anything if I think that its all going to end anyway.
Now, I am in college....I'm not sure of what i want to do for my life...but i am NOT running away and hiding in a bomb shelter when i see these signs of Christ's coming.
I have explained to them that we are seeing so much happening in our day and age when these events are viewed with the lens of scripture. Prophesy is being fulfilled!
I tell them about Israel....then they look really uncomfortable and say that Israel's re-emergence as a nation is merely coincidence and that God has no plan for them. They say that the church is now Israel.
I try to tell them about the prophesied GOG/MAGOG war...and how a coalition of nations is going to try to wipe out the re-emerged nation of Israel, but God will stop them with supernatural measures. But since literal Israel...the country...has no significance in their eyes...how can they believe this.
I tell them about the Antichrist....the one-world government, economy, religion, the mark of the beast, and world unity that is spoken about in the bible........then they say that I'm viewing it too literally.
I tell them about the increased Earthquakes, Hurricanes, and other natural disasters that are happening. and the drought and famine that are getting worse....
They just say that all these things have always been around. They say that people have been predicting Christ's return forever. They say that i should not be so worried about it. They tell me i should just live my life for God and know that it will just happen when it happens....if it happens in our lifetimes.
THATS STRANGE HUH? DID CHRIST NOT TELL US TO WATCH FOR THE SIGNS OF HIS COMING?
Secular people also say this to me....that everything that is....is as it always has been. Nothing really has changed. But I have noticed even in my lifetime...that the events are appearing as birth pangs...growing more severe and more frequent.
Then I read this verse in the Bible, and I see another fulfillment of scripture.
II Peter 3:3-4
"Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation."
That verse says it all...for I have met these scoffers...and some of them who deny the signs of the times....are deluded Christians in the church!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I look at modern day Christianity....it is a painful sight. I see preachers standing up in mega churches....wearing luxury suits....jewelry (Benny Hinn)....Men who preach nothing about how God wants to bestow upon us EARTHLY RICHES....they mention nothing of sins...of Christ.....of how we are to put our hope in him....
Men who water down and ultimately deny the scripture...who preach in political correctness....and in a way that offends nobody. Men like Robert Schuller, Rick Warren, Creflo Dollar, and many more...
There is the emerging church movement too...I do hope that you know enough about this growing movement. They are post-modernists...who say that nobody can understand the bible....they say that Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and everybody else....goes to heaven.
They seek old Roman Catholic mysticism practices like Contemplative prayer, labyrinths, breath prayers...THEY DENY THAT TRUTH EXISTS...Brian Mclaren...who is a novelist, pastor, and emergent leader says the following. Please Watch this video...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SOUfsX2fbk
It is sad to see what they believe....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a link to an excellent article by missionary/ pastor Roger Oakland...a man of true faith. This article is about the emerging church...here's the link...
http://www.understandthetimes.org/commentary/c29.shtml
When one sees the various false churches out there....how Christians act so worldly....how Christians are being deceived by seeker-sensitive messages and heresy...It is painful to know that God's word said this would happen.
II Thessalonians 2:1-3
"Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together to Him, that you may not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction..."
here is another verse...
I Timothy 4: 1-2
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron...."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I find that the vast majority of Christianity has been rendered useless and blind. Many people and couples in my church are very wealthy. One old couple has millions upon millions from their business and investments.
When I fellowship after the church services on Sunday...I overhear so many people talking about money....about business....about the fancy cars and things they just bought....about that new house or renovation...
While I view such things as blessings from God.....it is sad to see Christians getting caught up in money and things that is JUST STUFF...
I have told many of them in friendly conversations about these days but they don't seem interested...or they view me as a nutter.
And today...as i sit here typing this I am watching the stock markets again....it is 4:19 and the markets are about to close.
The DJI is at 7553.....down 443 points from yesterdays abysmal closing number.
I look at these numbers and then I ponder the intense fear they cause to people....even Christians..
Christians need to realize....where their hope and treasure really is....in Christ!!!!! When hard times come...and we worry about the economy...Christians often end up acting exactly like the WORLD! The lost people out there....they look at the scared Christians and they think....aren't Christians supposed to have hope in God? Yet there they are....all worried about money and the state of the economies.
I am sorrowful for the many Christians that will have the day of the Lord come upon them as a snare...
I hope God will use people...those who are not asleep....to help wake up our brothers and sisters. The world is crumbling all around us...and Christians are too busy with the fleeting joys and fears of this life.
I am glad that you not blind to what is happening Trent. I rejoice that God has opened our eyes. There are amazing "side-effects" to knowing the bible's prophetic words...and watching for the signs of Christ's coming.
Since I have been awakened to the signs....I have learned to be happy for each day that i have...i have learned that i must not worry about my life...about tomorrow....about money....for all of it is perishable.
God has shown us what is going to happen....and that through Christ...we are victorious! I look forward to Christ's return.
When i see the prophecy being fulfilled...even though it looks bad...I
look beyond that darkness and see the light of life!Truly he is coming quickly! Let us look forward to it with great joy! It will be like the springtime of life! It will be the time when our real summer will come! and the winter will be forever over.
No more of this world's trials and troubles will be ours!
"For lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone!"
- Song of Solomon 2:11
------------------------------------------------------------
And yes...I look forward to our discussions in the future too!
In Christ,
Nick
A network of super-computers completed the longest and most difficult simulation ever performed. The computation was over a trillion times as difficult to complete than any previous computation. Basically, we have discovered the RECIPE for the MOST abundant life for mankind by simulating all possible ways to live.
After 10 years of constant work ... the results were astounding.
The output for maximum enjoyment in life reads like this:
* make God first, and focus on Him
* don't focus on what you make with your hands
* recognize the worthiness of your Creator and Heavenly Father to be worshiped by using His name in no cavalier way, but instead as a sweet blessing
* take 1 day in 7 as a day of rest from caring for yourself, just like God rested
* take special care to honor your parents
* don't slay one another
* don't take things that belong to others
* have truth in speech and attitude
* don't lust for what is not yours
* be poor in spirit
* mourn
* be meek
* hunger and thirst for righteousness
* be merciful
* have a pure in heart
* make peace
* have joy when treated badly
* be the salt and light of the earth
* be devoid of anger
* be prompt to reconciled to your brother
* hold nothing against another
* have a spirit of agreement
* turn the other cheek
* go the second mile
* love enemies
* pray for those that persecute you
It is sad for me that it took so long in my life to recognize and appreciate the treasure of the God's commands ... for in them I now see what exactly the LawKeeper (Christ) intends to fulfill in and through me by the Spirit, just as He fulfilled in His own body 2000 years ago. And what a blessing the fulfillment of these commands has become! Who knew that these commands are a simple recipe to the abundant life and that these commands are given as a means by which we may be fulfilled and blessed as they are performed in us by the divine enabling (grace) through the Spirit.
I suppose that if scientists created a chain of the best computers that could solve any problem ever thrown at them ... and were cooking on the task to simulate any possible way to live in order to discover behaviors for man to prohibit or allow into their life that could maximize man's enjoyment of life ... then the computer would ultimately discover what is already written in the scriptures as commands from the Lord.
Then ... as the computer system overheats we are left with nothing learned beyond what we already know from the Bible.
Before I begin, I want to mention something ...
NOBODY knows the day or the hour of the Lord's return. Amen?
I discovered something this year about that phrase: "nobody knows the day or the hour." It is a colloquial phrase in the Hebrew community that has a literal meaning and another wrinkle that has to do with the Feast of Trumpets. Let me explain.
The Feast of Trumpets is the only Hebrew celebration that happens at a new moon. And the new moon can fall on different days all over the world. It can also happen on two different days in the same place in the world. A new moon is 29.5 days after the last one, meaning it might occur on the 29th or 30th day, nobody knows for sure. Which is to say that the calender may read September the 14th for the new moon in Israel, but it may not occur in the United States until the 15th or maybe it would have occurred here a day before it does in Israel. Or that in Israel alone there is always a controversy that must be resolved to determine when the celebration actually occurs.
The way the nation of Israel would determine when the feast occurred is they would deputize two men with good eyesight to stand away from the city and stare at the moon to see if they could agree that a crescent was visible. They two men would return to the priest in Jerusalem and either agree that the feast was to begin or they would wait for the next day to verify. Because the date of the feast was up for grabs, the feast became known as that which "nobody knows the day or the hour." That very phrase became synonymous with "the Feast of Trumpets" such that they could be used interchangeably.
It is interesting that this Letter came on the Feast of Trumpets, 2007. It spoke so clearly that "Today, let it be counted. For today begins that which the Lord God of Heaven and earth had declared from the beginning, that it should come" ... particularly interesting when it occurred on the very day that nobody knew the day or the hour.
We can all agree that nobody knows the day or the hour of the Lord's coming ... and at the same time be confident of this ... it is most likely to occur during the Feast that signifies this event ... just like the death of the Lord Jesus occurred during the feast of Passover.
In short, there is valid reasons to believe that the rapture will occur whenever the day or the hour happens to be during the new moon of the seventh Hebrew month in 2010 ... or in other words - "The Feast of Trumpets 2010." That is sometime between September 7th and September 10th, 2010.
That will be approximately 62.5 years after the establishment of Israel as a nation ... and still leave at least 7 more years before the time-frame expires ... the time frame being the length of years in the generation that sees the establishment of the nation in Jerusalem.
The days of our years are threescore years and ten;
- Psalm 90
"Threescore" is 60. So 60 and 10 is 70.
I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. - Matt 24
Do some google searches on the Feast of Trumpets and you can quickly verify what I have written.
[NEW]Relevant Letters are being clipped and referenced together at THIS SITE when they are informative about the rapture time-frame.
Sometimes I get questions in my inbox.
From tonight's email: """What is your take on this "law" question? Are we under law, or a portion of law, or what?"""
Here is how I answered *edited*:
"UNDER law" is an important phrase that carries alot of meaning. Specifically, that the jurisdiction of punishment is applicable to those that are "under law."
The 10 commands are found in Exodus 20 ... written by the finger of God. These laws are that which someone can be under and then again someone can appreciate / obey / want to obey even without being under them. I am not under the Law, for the jurisdiction of punishment does not apply to me.
I won't pretend to speak for anyone else, but I remember an online chat with a couple of people and the topic was obedience. So we were all agreeing that obedience is important and so on ... and I asked this question "AND WHAT if we are NOT obedient? What happens then?"
You can probably see where I was going with this question, can't you? I was seeing if we could make sure at this point that we are not putting ourselves under any law. So, if a reply came as some punishment or disapproval of us would result as an answer to that question, then it would indicate that someone is under law. OR, if there was no consequential punishment for disobedience, then it would indicate that we are not under law. Well, Emily said: "There is no "what if!"" In other words, there is no result / punishment ... for we KNOW that the full punishment for our sins were taken at Calvary ... and we have appropriated this to the utmost by faith and thankfulness.
So, in short we are not under law ... all of us, who have appropriated the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf as the full punishment for all of our sins ... past, present and future.
Those who are under law ... or even under religious obligation / expectation, indicate their faith is incomplete or wavering ... about the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. And to do this is a great offense to God ... as if to say that what was done when Jesus died was not good enough.
The cure is thankfulness. We do not continually ask for forgiveness, as if we lacked it. Rather we take every opportunity to thank Him for forgiveness. And more so, knowing that He loves us so much, we want to stumble less often and to offer ourselves as living sacrifices ... already forgiven, but reporting to Him with abandonment and love to do as He would ask us, knowing that His commands are not a burden with the divine-enabling (grace) given of the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah!
Ripening,
TrentPS. The religious nuts who have perverted the law .. .and sought to put people under the law should not be the only ones talking about the law. In fact, we, who understand its use and practice obedience through grace, should take back ownership of the terms "law" and "obedience" for we are the only ones that understand it and use it correctly. Lets not shrink back from these blessings, just because some jerk used them in a perverted way to make them as burdens and a curse. ... my two cents.
I was recently asked this question: """ I can not find a job or finish school. I am getting deeper in dept and it is causing financial stress on my wife and me. even my marriage is falling apart because of this. what do I do?"""
Here is what I said in reply:
You can say "amen."
Amen \A`men"\, v. To say Amen to; to sanction fully. ...
a statement to express assent or approval. When you wake up tomorrow and realize that you have no money, try this: "Well ... amen! , Amen. Well, just amen."
When you wake up tomorrow and recollect that people have been slandering you let your heart say: "Amen, Well, amen."
When someone takes too long at the ATM or cuts in front of you in traffic, try saying to God: "Amen. Well ... amen, just amen."
When your image has been torn down by embarrassing mishaps, or hatred, why not release it and simply say: "Amen, Lord, amen."
Problems arise as pressure to push us into God's presence. Do not try to shrink the problems by force. Instead yield to them, and give way. Let them cause you to rely upon Him. Do not struggle for control that you will never have. Don't fret. Say "amen."
You can always tell carnality by the struggle to press back against problems, but maturity in Christians is revealed the same as maturity in plumbs ... the ripe ones will yield to pressure.
The error that we do not have a good Shepherd to take care of us is a teaching that ultimately sends you in a downward spiral, because you have demand with no dynamic supply, and impossible burden with no rest.
Buddhists have the stupa, which is a giant and beautifully built dome. The stupa is not maintained, so that it will decay. They teach that existence is pain, and like the dome suffers pain and ruin through whatever comes against it. Ultimately, the goal is to become nothing, which is nirvana. Fatalism is just the Christian equivalent of the stupa-understanding, of misery concluding in the rescue of death.
Authentic Christian teaching never leads you to fatalism. There is no empty dome of existence; rather we spiritually see existence like an egg. Whatever trouble comes against us, can break us and spill forth life from within.
In me is an overcoming life that conquers anything that comes against it. It is like a diamond that is hidden in a cake. A knife will quickly cut through the cake, but if it ever makes contact with the gem then the knife will not cut the diamond, but rather be destroyed by the greater substance. Everything gives way to the Eternal Life that is in us.
So, if I have a problem outside of me, and a Solution that is inside of me ... WHAT IS IN THE WAY?
:-)We have problems/tribulation in real life, but we don't let them point us towards Buddhist-ish fatalism. If it feels like life is tearing chunks of flesh off of you, that is exactly what is happening, and the sooner that you are out of the way, the sooner that you will have victory. We emphasize that inside every Christian is the Way, and the Way holds the entire answers for real (un-imagined) calamity. The ripe Christian yields to pressure instead of resisting it or pushing back, because the ripe Christian knows that they have a life in them that can easily handle everything.
You don't have to be a "tough-cookie," (hard on the outside) and try to hold it together while praying for a quick end to the misery. Let the pressure push you to find the sufficiency of the Way.
... you might find yourself with a new word on your lips ... and a peace that passes understanding in the face of calamity ... "AMEN, Lord"
Here is a prayer to get you on your way:
I am in alot of danger.
I can't cope with the challenges today. I can't live a life of peace. I can't find fulfillment.
Today is too big of a day for a man. Today is too big of a day for me.
With hand placed over heart, Lord Jesus you are welcome here, come be my strength. Lord, be my peace. I am out of love. Lord, you be my love today.
I don't want to go a single moment without You.
(I am getting in the habit of saying this, at first sign of pressure, because this similar sentiment has been the beginning of some of the best days of my life.)

Seriously, don't Christians tend to portray some sins "more damnable" than others?
My point is that the hypocritical religious bigots deserve the harshest criticism, and Jesus was "all up in their grill." He drew them out and made spectacles of them. He flaunted freedom to expose the pharisees of His day to the light and reveal their prideful elitism based upon empty religious form. It is clear when reading the Gospels that Jesus was not interested in putting up with these people, nor with their toxic religiosity that were driving wedges between God and His people.
Nobody but nobody got worse treatment by Jesus then the religiously pious ... and the religiously pious thought the only thing that they could do to stay in power and in control was to kill Him.
So, if you are not a porn star, and you think Jesus loves you, but not them ... are you not prideful in heart ... a bit of a pharisee yourself?
Paul was a serial murderer. Mary was a prostitute. But, as the love of God through the Lord Jesus was revealed to them, they were broken by that love particularly because of the horror and stigma of their sin in stark contrast to His unconditional love.
Lets be agents of agape to a desperate world.

A Letter Given to Timothy, during an on-line Bible Study Fellowship - For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear
Thus says your Redeemer: This is MY food! It has NOT come from My servant! It was I, even I, who had done it! Shall you refuse the food, which comes from your Master’s table?!... You have, and do, refuse it. This is why you starve and are left barren... void of the Spirit, dying for thirst. Neither are you able to receive the fruit of My body, which these gathered here are, and receive, who also diligently sow and exhibit, nor do you dispense it. Therefore, from you have I removed My hand! You are delivered to satan, even now walking in the spoiled fruit thereof, until which time you learn to no longer blaspheme. Cease from your persecutions against My Body... It is I you have persecuted! How many times shall you crucify Me?!
REPENT,
and cast off all this darkness in My name,
and I will again receive you to Myself, in where I shall hold you even tighter.
Never again shall you stray... My beloved, We weep for you.
Come... come back... I shall receive you.
But you must first receive of Me, and that which I have offered, in all humility.
Beloved, why have you turned from Me? How is it, that I behold in your hearts, malice?... No love for God at all. You reject My forgiveness, and make My sacrifice of non-effect. You sit there upon your thrones, which are held up by man’s doctrines, wearing all robes of arrogance and pride, with no foundation beneath you... you are fallen. You hold all My children’s sins against them, even those sins you have imagined, as though they have sinned against you... where are your hearts?! Do you not know the Word of My mouth, in where I taught you, saying, “You must forgive everyone who has sinned against you, and if you will not, neither can My Father in Heaven forgive you your trespasses”?... This is to deny Me and My Father. You have rejected the Lord of glory and His sacrifice, saying within yourselves, ‘It is sufficient for me; yet of them, it is not sufficient’... HYPOCRITES!... Evil and deceived generation! For which is the greater evil? To reject your own forgiveness, or to hold the sins of another against them, though they have not sinned against you? Both come from the evil one... in whose footsteps you walk. And this is why I said, “Neither can My Father in Heaven forgive you your trespasses.” For you have taken your own sin, and bore them upon your own shoulders. And what’s more, you have taken the sins of others, and endeavored to place them once again upon their shoulders, so you may count them unworthy, and turn away. You have placed their sin NOT upon them! - You bear yours, and theirs, even now having counted both to yourselves...
Now...
Yesterday’s...
And tomorrow’s.
Nor do I remember them.
Therefore, you remain in your sins. And not just in yours, but all those you have heaped upon others... even these you bear also. For what I have taken cannot be returned again.
Receive of Me... and escape...
so you may truly be counted worthy to stand before the Son of Man, when He comes in His Father’s Kingdom.

I have enough sin in me to damn a million souls.
As a GraceHead, I am not worried that I'll be damned ... so I don't mind admitting it.
My illustration of this is blood. We have enough toxins in our body to kill 10 people, but we don't die. Blood cleans out the toxins ... non-stop. So, if I grasp my wrist and choke off the blood ... first it tingles, then it starts to burn, and before long ... it turns black and starts to decay. Soon, without the constant flow of blood ... my hand is lifeless. The toxins will do such harm that it cannot be repaired. Right now, my blood cleanses my physical body, just like the Blood of Christ is cleansing my spiritual identity. It is ongoing. It is by the blood, and there is little that I can do to stop it, though I never asked that it begin.
Remember when Jesus washed the feet of the disciples? He just did it. Nobody asked Him to ... in fact, Peter asked Jesus to stop! What is interesting is what Jesus said to Peter when Peter asked Him to stop. "If you do not let me wash your feet, then I can have nothing to do with you." Peter then, asked Jesus to wash him all over ... head to toe. Jesus explained, "You don't need a bath again, you just need your feet washed."
Notes of interest:
The bath was voluntary, but the foot washing was completely the initiative of Jesus over and against the objections of those He was washing. Nobody asked Jesus for it, yet nobody was allowed to avoid it. (IMPORTANT)
We need ongoing forgiveness as we sin. It is done by Jesus. We don't have to ask (in fact none of us were around when it was provided,) but we can't do without it.
It really is automatic, flowing unhindered, and continually sufficient no matter how much we sin, or bad the sin, or how willing we are to allow ourselves to be cleansed.
In all of this, I am not taking sin lightly ... I just am giving the blood of Christ, its due credit!

Its not homosexuality, nor pedophilia, not even abortion or theft. Those are nowhere near as dangerous as the sins that I am thinking of. They don't even compare.
The most dangerous sins are clearly the covert sins. These sins are dangerous because society accepts them ... even applauds them. In fact, if you do these sins, you are bound to take a leap forward in popularity, and you may take a high position at your church as deacon, or elder, or even pastor of a mega-church. That is what makes them so dangerous ... they don't even look wrong ... they look right!
The most dangerous sins are, sins like pride, self-righteousness, haughtiness, and self-preservation. Those will take you further from God because they are going downstream with the world, and there is little opposition.

I shall reap! Says the Lord. I shall gather, and judge the earth for all its forsaking of Me. Behold, the field is left to you desolate; the streets are left in darkness. Even amongst the grass will you not find even the smallest of fireflies. All are taken and snatched away... My own treasure, My precious beloved, taken and held fast at My bosom, held tightly in the arms of their Eternal Father, their Maker.I AM COME!
I shall push at you.
I, even I, shall tear you down.
I am come as the whirlwind!I shall blow as the tempest...
Rage as the seas, flood the rivers and all the inlets...
Yea, I shall overflow.
Rolling thunder shall be the sound of My voice,
And fire shall be its sting. The earth shall quake and heave at My presence.
The world shall be turned upside down in My fury...
Scorching firmament...
Boiling of the seas.I shall strike the earth, and it shall tremble in fear.
And mens hearts shall fail them for fear.
And with great perplexity they shall consider
That which is before their eyes...

Jack Hook, in a recent email and article on his website brings before us some interesting questions and insights . . .
Babylon the Great is Falling
http://www.babylonthegreatisfalling.net
We should all remember that whoever occupies the White House instantly has in his hand the greatest sword or hammer of war this world has ever seen. Will President Obama use this sword to convince the Russians and Islamic radicals to join him at the peace table? He has already threatened to send more forces into Afghanistan to win the battle against the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. Is President Obama the real-life Jack Bauer or James Bond, having a sword in one hand and a olive branch in the other, who is coming to restore order and establish the peace of the promised Kingdom of God on the Earth? As you consider your answer please consider these other relevant and interrelated questions:
(1) What does the future hold for Fundamentalists of all religions now that Obama is the leader of the Western world?
(2) Will there be more war or compromise and peace?
(3) Are aliens or angels real? Is someone or thing “out there” in the heavens? If so, do they have anything to do with the wars raging in the Middle East?
(4) Will Israeli and American tanks have to roll into Damascus and Tehran respectively, to keep them from obtaining nuclear weapons? Or will Iran and Syria make peace with Israel? Does there need to be regime changes in these two nations first?
(5) Will Russia and America work together for peace in the Holy Land or does the Russian invasion of Georgia signal a new cold war? Will the Pope help? Will Mary, the mother of Jesus, help as well?
(6) Can the Jews and Muslims share the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, allowing for the rebuilding of Solomon’s Temple right next to the infamous Dome of the Rock mosque?
(7) What do communism, fascism, monarchies, theocracies, democracies, and republics all have in common? How are Christians suppose to relate and react to the men in charge of these various forms of civil government?
(8) Will the coming infamous peacemaking Antichrist be a Jew, a Muslim, a New Ager, a Christian, a Bonesman, or a member of the Freemasons? Could he be an American President who unites all of these different factions together?
(9) Is the second coming of Jesus to the Earth a spiritual or bodily return? {Note: it is surely BOTH}
(10) And finally, are Christians counted as sheep for the slaughter or militant soldiers of the sword? Are they to be lambs or lions in this life and world?
In conclusion, it is important for all Christians who rightly oppose and expose the abortion, homosexual, and religious "dominion"policies of Barack Obama to remember that our Lord Jesus Christ wants us to respect, honor, pay tribute, love, and pray for this newly elected President. As Paul and Peter both wrote in the New Testament we are to "honor the king" no matter what his beliefs and practices happen to be. For Barack Obama and his family are still people for whom our Lord Jesus shed his blood. It is true that he, like President Bush before him, is following "another" Jesus and a different gospel which diminishes the truth that Jesus Christ is the "only" way to receive eternal life. Because he claims to be a Christian brother it is our obligation to help him see the truth, just as we want our own eyes opened by others when we become deceived at times. It is true that Americans electing a man who supports women who want to kill their unborn babies, and who supports the homosexual lifestyle and the legalizing of their union, is a sign that the spirit of Sodom and Gomorrah ruling in Washington D.C is about to be confronted by the judgment and wrath of God.
MARANATHA ! ... Come quickly, O LORD JESUS ! - our Hope and our Redeemer!
Ever been clumsy? I've been a real clutz at times. But I wouldn't know about that if I was only given manageable things to do, would I?
Take the top clutz in the world, and they would not know they are the least bit clumsy if they sat on their hands all day and did nothing. They need to get up and move, and do something that they cannot manage in order to learn their true condition, rather than be puffed up with the false notion that they can handle everything.
I'm really talking about pride, and self-exaltation - thinking that you are something when you are not. This is part of the human condition.
With this in mind, it makes sense when Paul wrote:
Romans 5:20 -
"Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound..."

God's wisdom was that every clutz goto the kitchen and fetch plate after plate, and glass after glass, two / three / four or more at a time, until they got the message ... they are clumsy. They couldn't get that message sitting on their hands, could they?
Ever try to manage the law ... and I mean the full law - every command (not just some manageable watered-down version) - on your own? I wasn't sitting on my hands, when I tried. I was learning. I learned that I needed a Savior!
Galatians 3:24
Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.
Jesus saved me from continuing in my clutz-y trespassing. He saved me by infusing me with His Holy Spirit ... that as I walk by the Spirit, I do not as often break that which I consistently broke when left to myself.
What a relief! What a miracle!
When OBAMA was announced the winner, the Lord said in a loud voice:
"Now you shall see the heavens opened and My wrath poured out on this nation! They shall come to know the hand of God in His anger, and I shall do so quickly, for all their forsaking of Me and for all their murdering of the innocent, says the Lord God!"
It was not my word that predicted the outcome of the election. Rather, I only deliver the Word of the Lord. HE alone is RIGHT and Righteous... all glory to Him.
(*Read The Lord's Word, which predicted the outcome of the election --> HERE)
"Now what?..."
TRUST and seek God with all your heart, with all your mind, and with all your strength; and take refuge in His Son, Jesus, Yahshua HaMashiach. Therefore, again, I say TRUST!... and pray. Those in Messiah need not fear. Let the wicked fear...even unto repentance. Amen.
The Day of The Lord has come!
Everything shall now progress quickly, even as a woman in labor pains.
MARANATHA! (The Lord Jesus come!)
Blessings to you all, in Christ's great love.
He is our sanctuary, in Whom we are also accepted...

"Restful," in my vocabulary, is as much about what it isn't than what it is.
"Restful" isn't inactivity.
Let me try explain.
As I type, my fingers are not inactive. They wait on instructions, each finger resting until my head tells it to move, and if they go quickly at my head's command, then there is alot less work and need for back-space use to re-type mistakes.
It isn't restless pecking and each finger frantically trying to type what it thinks needs to be said.
Fingers rest until called upon, and then they work together with the other members of my body and other fingers to have efficient results and accomplish the will of my head. Likewise, as members of the body of Christ, I want to contrast the franticness of churchgoers to that of restfulness.
Many churchgoers wait not. They rush in a panic to do what they perceive is the right move. "Lets try this" and "lets try that" all the while attaching noble reasons for the activity. Their own plan to do what they think that the Head wants done. But, they listen not, and their labor is in vain. Actually, their labor is destructive.
Try to play a piano with fingers that are so afflicted, and the melody will be lost. Try to type a blog with fingers so frantic, and it would be madness. Indeed, I doubt anybody would like a haircut from hands like that!!!
Restfulness is availability to all that the head would make available for us to do. And most importantly, it is a cessation of our endless attempts to act of our own accord whatever we think that the head would have us do.
I realize that one cannot simply do nothing all the time, so understand that we won't need explicit commands to tie our shoes or something like that. Rather, as we are active in the things that we have in our heart to do, restfulness takes the shape of an attitude to stop, or reverse coarse at a moments notice. All of this assumes a hearing heart and listening ears, and the willingness to be open to His nudges.
So holding our plans with open hands, not gripping tightly on any thing we do ... and waiting on the Lord ... is the essence of abiding and the thrust of what I want to discuss mostly at GraceHead. It is what I need the most encouragement about, and I assume that people that read this blog are in the same boat.
We have seen that the futility of the church's activity is the measure of how rest-less and busy the majority of the churched are in barren activities that were not from the Lord's prompting.
"be perfect, as your Father in Heaven is perfect" - Jesus. (if He is a 10 in perfection then when I perform at a 9.999 level, than I have broken this command.)
"be Holy, as God is Holy" (provided that God is a 10 at holiness, then 9.999 from any one of us breaks the command.)
"unless your righteousness exceed that of the Pharisees, you will not inherit the Kingdom of God." - Jesus. (provided that a Pharisee walked upright, then you must exceed their walk or perish)
"if your eye or arm causes you to sin, then pluck them out and cut off your limbs." - Jesus (know anyone keeping this command?)
"Anger = murder" - Jesus (yep ... and don't forget...) "Lust = adultery" - Jesus
"Sin = falling short of the glory of God" (as if humanity had an alternative)
... just to name a few.
Some people make following Jesus sound like a lead-pipe cinch!! Which of these teaching of the Christ have you followed, or anybody that you have ever met?
And HERE
IS
THE
CLINCHER:
Jas 2:10 -
For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.
I think that we would agree that God is incapable of having unrealistic expectations. He never expects one thing and gets another, correct? After all, He is all-knowing.
So, knowing exactly and precisely what to expect from His creation at all times, He is never surprised nor disappointed. Amen?
So, is God stupid? Ignorant? Unrealistic? Or has legalistic religion that emphasizes self-effort missed the whole point.
There is not one single passage verse or chapter that makes any hint towards the legalistic presupposition that we are ABLE to do any law keeping on our own, according even to the grandest efforts and toil of the most capable among us.
We all agree that the scriptures commands us to obey. And without any known exceptions, the scripture gives no indication that we are capable on our own.
Quite the contrary ... the scripture is consistent with the exact opposite:
"Apart from Me you can do NOTHING." - Jesus.(from John)
"Are you so foolish to think that you can get anywhere with human effort?" - Paul (Gal. 3:2)
"the Law is fulfilled in us, as we walk according to the Spirit" - Paul (Rom. 8:4)
Ga 2:21 - Show Context
"I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, then Christ died needlessly."
The problem is that nearly 100% of all Christian churches present only HALF of the gospel. They think that Jesus came just to die for sins, and wipe the slate clean, to give us a fresh start at keeping all those commands that we were never able to keep on our own to begin with ... However, in all the emphasis upon His death, the churches overlook the most important part ... the whole reason for the incarnation. Jesus came to give us LIFE!!
What God offers through Jesus is LIFE (oh yeah, and He had to cleanse us to offer it, but the cleansing is a footnote) ... and without the resurrection, we are to be pitied and hopeless slaves to sin.
"...and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain"(1 Corinthians 15:13-14)
To emphasize the contrast to the importance of the resurrection over the death of Christ ... Paul says it this way: "For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life."

When I read that, I nearly lost it. I tried to search the scriptures and find something ... anything, that would tie salvation to the death of Christ ... and not one single passage has been found. 100% of the passages that talk about "salvation" speak only about the LIFE (not death) of the Lord Jesus ... and THIS CENTRAL theme of the whole of scripture is the afterthought for most church-goers.
Since then, and for nearly 20 years now, I have challenged people to find any passage that ties salvation to the death of Jesus rather than the life of Jesus and nobody has yet to find such a verse, if one exists.
So, why do I bring it up?
What does this have to do with the commands of God, and the teaching of Jesus?
The LIFE that Jesus intends to grant - raised from death, and quickening the dead spirits of men to all that are willing to believe ... is the dynamic of His demands. His own life is responsible to fulfill the demands, and by virtue of His life alone are any of the commands kept to God's satisfaction.
In short, God is pleased with Jesus or He is pleased with nothing at all.
He gave His life for us.
So that He could give His life to us.
So that He could live His life through us ...
as though it is us ...
but it is not us ...
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."

This is a fine video. Though, it has some errors already identified, and more errors that I will hereafter discuss.
It mentions very many important things of which many people are ignorant.
Yes, Javier Solana commands Europe, as each nation state is confederated under his position declared in document 666 item 12.
Yes, he has signed a seven year peace accord with Israel in 2007.
Yes, it is reviewed in the summer of 2010. And Yes things are going to get alot worse, this year and the next until all things are accomplished.
NO, however, the rapture is not until sometime before 2012 (likely September of 2010 for reasons that I won't go into here.)
Obama is not only our next president, but our FINAL president, who hands over the nation into a merger with Canada and Mexico for seven months before the Anti-Christ puts the new merger under his foot. Obama and his presidency will remain until just after the rapture.
You will know that the rapture is shortly at hand, when you see the miraculous rescue of Israel when attacked by Russia and the Oriental enemies in league with Islamic powers.
We know that Feast of Trumpets (9/13/07) marked the beginning of the last ten days (years.)
As of this fall, only 2 years remain until the rapture, of which "nobody knows the day nor the hour." Not all believers will be raptured. Many will be left for refinement "as one escaping through the flames."
THEREFORE, repent and return to the Lord and be not left behind!
[*Click TITLE or here to watch the video--> GOD'S WILL]
3/7/08, From God the Father - A Letter Given to Timothy, For All Those Who Have Ears to Hear.
Thus says the Lord to the United States:
Obama shall lead you, and by him shall My will and judgment against your nation be fulfilled, for all its forsaking of Me and My Israel. And so I have brought from among your enemy, even one from Ishmael, to rule over you for a time and a season, foreordained, until that foretold is accomplished, and the king of fierce countenance shall rule. Then, by that deception conceived of by your enemy and this transgressor, him being full of lofty and elevated words, lies, and dark speeches sold as hope, will it return against him ten-fold of the same, by him called “perdition”.
For even the evil of this present world is set within the confines of My will. Evil acts and brings forth of its own, yet is unaware that nothing is hidden before Me. Neither has anything come to pass, nor will be, that I have not already beheld.
And this, oh arrogant and deceived generation, is why I said all was written and completed, even before the foundation of the world...
The God of all, even of all that is known and unknown,
the Creator of all things...
The Everlasting, who is from everlasting to everlasting...
I AM.
I want to identify a temptation that leads to other temptations. This "parent" temptation is the lure to think we can handle things by our own strength / human power. In short, the temptation to think that "we are strong" leads us into many other sins. The good news is that if we avoid this trap then we can enjoy a life that is free from much stumbling.
So how do we set this straight by making up our minds not to fall for the lure of self-sufficiency and human strength?
I don't know really. I guess it can vary from person to person. However, this is a humbling and disillusionment that ultimately awakens us to our weakness ... a weakness that was by God's own design.
Once awakened we no longer say things like: "I can handle a trip to the bar with that crowd"
Instead we say: "Others may be able to handle beer without getting drunk, but if I am around it I know that I can't handle what others can handle."
We no longer say things like: "I know better but I just accidentally messed up this once."
Once we've repented of the illusion of strength we say this instead: "I didn't "accidentally" anything when I sinned. Rather, that was not a fluke but a manifestation of a completely corrupt and weak flesh. In my flesh is no good thing. I am surprised that I didn't do worse when for I fell out with God before I ever fell into temptation ... and I NEED God for I am too weak and my flesh is too corrupt to go a single moment without Him."
It is a subtle thing that we tend to learn through failures and bitter happenings that reveal our own weakness.
May we each settle it for ourselves .. that today, like every day before and like every day to come ... yes even each moment of this day, I need Jesus. I need Him to guide me and His Spirit to teach me and keep me far from harm.
When we see a baby wander close to a cliff we see immaturity. But an older, more mature person senses the danger and stays away from it ... not wandering near the cliff ... not thinking that they can handle it, nor being ignorant of the danger. So, healthy fear of danger and temptation is present in all of us that the Lord is maturing, so that we don't venture where others go.
Instead, lets pray to the Lord, "Lead us not into temptation. Deliver us from evil."
